Blue Mission Short Films: Empowering Youth to Shape a Sustainable Future Through Science and Storytelling

We are thrilled to unveil the inspiring short films created by young minds as part of the Blue Mission – Our Sea is Our Health SLEs project, a unique adventure into ocean literacy, the One Health approach, and boundless creativity.

This STE(A)M Learning Ecologies project was coordinated by APRE in Italy and championed by the research institute ISPRA.

Students from I.C. Guicciardini school in Rome embarked on an immersive journey to explore vital environmental themes such as marine litter, sustainable aquaculture, and ecological beaches. Their learning was hands-on and holistic, combining science labs, outdoor field excursions, and the creative challenge of producing compelling short films.

These films were proudly showcased during the 2025 Festival delle Scienze in Rome, where students became true science communicators, raising awareness about the vital connections between health, environment and society.

The project did more than just educate; it sparked new technical skills, fostered creative expression, and inspired many students to envision careers centered on sustainability and global health.

“If the sea gets sick, we get sick too. It’s all connected… I learned that with Blue Mission!”

“I hope to inspire others to take responsibility for their actions. The environment is like a person — it deserves respect.”

Dive into their stories, watch the films, and discover how today’s youth are shaping a more sustainable, healthier future for all of us.
